Have lost, and deservedly so, and must now Cop it Sweet, learn and look to the future
The love of and desire to serve the people, particularly the vulnerable, has been been at the heart of the Labor cause since the party's beginnings over a century ago.
Love for the people seemed to have got lost 'in the party machine' while the party mechanics, the lever pullers and pushers, forgot that the machine was not their toy!
Labor has played a vital role in the building of this nation, and it must eventually return to being able to function as a sound opposition in NSW, and even a potential government in the years ahead.
Labor needs a good foundation on which to rebuild.
Carmel Tebbut
Ramsay Nuthall first met the member for Marrickville while she was a very young Minister for Juvenile Justice. Speaking of Carmel Tebbut, he says:
"She could always be bothered to see you and obviously cared. She even visited me in my home at one stage regarding an issue of concern. Most were too busy being important to talk to the people directly. She has always been approachable with an open ear"!
The people of Marrickville didn't throw out the baby with the bath water: Carmel Tebbut will grow into being a significant part of the future of a once again functional labor party in the years ahead. We must cling on to the moderates in every party.
